Geek+, a developer of mobile robotic solutions for logistics, has implemented a multi-robot goods-to-person system at Singaporean pet supply distributor Asia PetWorld’s fulfilment centre to support order fulfilment as the company grows its customer base.
According to Geek+, system installation was achieved in 12 weeks and has reportedly enabled order fulfilment with more than a 99% order fulfilment accuracy rate.
According to research from Global Market Insights, the pet care market has grown to US$261bn (£216.8bn) in 2022, marking an increase from US$245bn (£203.5bn) in 2021. The research firm has predicted this will grow to US$350bn (£290.8bn) by 2027, with the Asia Pacific region expecting a growth of 9.3%.
Asia PetWorld claims to handle more than 8,000 SKUs of varying weights and sizes everyday.
The company provides a range of different stock, from small items such as dog collars, to larger items like sacks of dog food. As a result, Asia PetWorld needed a solution that could adapt to its different products’ needs.
Geek+’s solution was deployed to address these challenges, with the system using algorithms and robots capable of supporting maximum payloads of 1,000kg (2,204lbs).
Alvin Yap, head of south east Asia at Geek+, said: “We are delighted to see our smart picking solution increase Asia PetWorld’s competitiveness in the demanding pet industry.
“This digital transformation helps them offer improved service to their customers in terms of efficiency and accuracy.
“We expect several more businesses in the region to adopt our solutions due to the gains in efficiency and flexibility they represent.”
Sebastian Wiradharma, director of Asia PetWorld, said: “In Singapore, the labour availability is always a challenge for warehouse owners.
“The situation is even worse for the pet industry where workers often need to manage heavy, awkward items.
“After adopting the Geek+ robots, we are better able to handle our stocks and can offer a more comfortable workplace to our employees.”
The two companies hope the solution will improve order productivity and support the maintenance of a safe environment for employees.
Geek+ (Stand i602) will be at IntraLogisteX 2023, which will be co-located with Robotics and Automation 2023 on 28-29 March 2023 at the NEC Birmingham. For more information, or to register to attend for free, visit www.intralogistex.co.uk or www.roboticsandautomation.co.uk.
