Piestro, a start-up automated pizza maker, has partnered with robotics company Kiwibot to provide a contactless pizza delivery service.
Launched in July, Piestro has developed an automated pizzeria that can make a pizza in three minutes from fresh ingredients. It has now added a dispensing mechanism for Kiwibot, enabling contactless delivery.
Ccustomers can place an order via an app, selecting a preferred pizza design. The order is then registered with Kiwibot and a bot will collect the pizza from a Piestro location before delivering directly to the consumer.
Massimo De Marco, CEO of Piestro, said: “This is such an exciting partnership for us. The demand we saw was so high to bring Piestro to market and we knew it was the right time to really double down on our product roadmap to meet the needs of operators and customer alike.
“Integrating Kiwibot into our system and making fresh, deliciously crafted pizzas accessible in an easy, fast and contactless format positions us to bring our Piestro automated pizzeria to market stronger than ever.”
Piestro said the solution enables local and regional pizzeria operators to expand takeout reach and provides an entry point for new operators looking to capitalise on the US$46bn US pizza market.
Announcement of the partnership follows a crowdfunding campaign on StartEngine, which was oversubscribed. A second funding campaign will now be launched for investor interest.
