Scandinavian Cosmetics, a distributor of beauty products in Scandinavia, is to automate and consolidate its operations at a brand-new warehouse in Malmö, Sweden, following implementation of an AutoStore solution by Element Logic.
Until now, Scandinavian Cosmetics, which acts as both an agency and seller of make-up, fragrance and skin- and hair-care products on behalf of more than 60 international brands, has managed its retail and e-commerce operations across several manual sites in Norway and Sweden.
However, increasing customer demand, particularly in the growing e-commerce sector, has forced the company to modernise and automate its logistics processes.
As such, Element Logic – an exhibitor at Robotics and Automation 2020 – will fit out Scandinavian Cosmetics’ new 6,000m2 warehouse with AutoStore automated workstations that provide a capacity of 30,000 bins. To meet the company’s needs of approximately 900 order lines per hour, 35 AutoStore order-fulfilment robots will provide the workstations with bins for picking and packing.
“We have clear growth ambitions where, through the investment in AutoStore, we create optimal conditions for quickly and easily being able to scale up our storage capacity,” said Joakim Johnsson, CEO of Scandinavian Cosmetics. “At the same time, we are proud to be able to offer our employees a new, modern, and attractive workplace.”
The AutoStore solution is planned to be operational at the Malmö facility by spring 2021.
