Northamptonshire warehousing and logistics 3PL Linkline has announced a new robotics partnership to leverage real-time data analytics to improve operational efficiency at its Kettering site.
Following the implementation, the company hopes to roll out the tech to its wider estate, and plans to build a larger automated facility in the next 12-18 months.
Linkline hopes to implement the autonomous data collection robot to the Kettering site this week.
The company has partnered with London-based warehouse automation firm Dexory, whose solution is designed to improve space utilisation and increase efficiency through use of autonomous robots.
The robot captures image and sensor data from a warehouse, which is intended to help workers achieve visibility across sites of various sizes and connect hubs throughout a supply chain.
This connection is achieved through DexoryView, a digital platform developed by the automation firm.
James Bowes, chairman of Linkline, said: “We’re hugely excited to start putting Dextor [the robot] to use in our warehouses.
“We’re always looking at technological solutions to drive more value for our customers and Dextor will do just that. We anticipate strong time savings for our warehouse operators who currently have to manually stock check at regular intervals throughout the week whereas now this process will be completed at night by Dextor.”
What’s more, the robot will operate every night and scan the full 250,000ft² warehouse and be integrated into the site’s daily processes. To achieve this, it will be assigned to work alongside the operations and warehouse staff.
Oana Jinga, chief commercial officer, co-founder of Dexory and judge at this year’s Robotics & Automation Awards, said: “Dexory is really excited to have Linkline on board and really seeing the value of data-driven technology for their operations.
“Integrating DexoryView into their Kettering warehouse, will allow them to unlock greater efficiencies and proactively prevent any errors resulting from stock inaccuracy, delivering on the best point of service for both themselves and their customers”.
Dexory is a finalist for the first-ever Robotics & Automation Awards in the Innovation in the Warehouse and Industry 4.0 categories for its work with logistics provider Maersk. Interested in attending this unmissable event for the robotics and automation sectors? Book your table now!
