Renowned British comedian, author and sports pundit Mark Watson will host the inaugural Robotics & Automation Awards next week, it has been announced.
A TV and radio regular, Watson has appeared on numerous panel shows, from Have I Got News for You and Mock the Week to 8 Out of 10 Cats and Would I Lie To You. He’s also appeared on This Week, Live at the Apollo, Taskmaster, and celebrity editions of Mastermind, Pointless and Bear Gryll’s Celebrity Island.
Watson will draw upon his smart, sometimes surreal, occasionally ranting, but always entertaining routines, to announce all the winners of Robotics & Automation Awards 2023 during a special ceremony to be held at the stunning De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in central London on 31 October.
Standing on Great Queen Street, which connects Covent Garden with Holborn in the West End of London, the Grade II listed building has a history dating back to 1775 and was once home to the original Freemasons’ Tavern before becoming a hotel in 1909.
Since then, the venue has hosted some of the world‘s leading politicians, royalty and celebrities with its grand Georgian architecture, original features and art-deco interiors. It was also featured in the most recent season of BBC One’s The Apprentice.
The ceremony will be attended by 200 professionals from across the robotics and automation value chains, including those working for OEMs, systems integrators, vendors and suppliers, as well as their customers and prominent academics working across related fields.
Guests will be greeted with a drinks reception held in the Balmoral Suite ahead of the winners being announced within the impressive surrounds of the Grand Hall, which features arched ornate ceilings, beautiful wood-panelling and dramatic chandeliers.
Next week’s ceremony and public announcement of the winners follows a thorough and exacting shortlisting and judging process, which saw more than 20 C-suite industry experts and leading academics evaluate written entries and Zoom-based presentations from more than 100 organisations across 22 categories.
Tables of 10 and individual tickets can be purchased here. Each seat booked includes a ticket that grants each guest access to a pre-ceremony drinks reception, three-course dinner, trophy-giving presentation, post-awards entertainment and invaluable networking opportunities.
