The new trucks are equipped with production-intent hardware and feature redundant safety systems, including braking and steering, designed to support SAE Level 4 autonomous driving.
The vehicles will expand their operational testing footprint to include a new freight corridor between Laredo and Dallas, Texas, along Interstate 35. This route adds to existing test lanes in New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas, and was chosen due to the high volume of freight and major logistics hubs along the corridor, including San Antonio and Austin.
Torc recently secured a leasing agreement for an autonomous hub in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which will serve as a base for operational testing, customer freight pilots, and eventual commercial activities.
The Freightliner Cascadia platform has undergone extensive development, with more than 1,500 engineering requirements integrated into its latest design.
In addition to its autonomous-ready features, the truck includes updates aimed at improving fuel efficiency, aerodynamics, and safety systems such as the Detroit Assurance Suite, Intelligent Braking Control System, and dual-stage intelligent LED headlights.
Achievements and innovations in retail and e-commerce, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, automotive, transport & logistics, and more will be celebrated at the Robotics & Automation Awards on 29 October 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
