Korean automotive supplier Seojin Industrial, which manufactures car parts for Hyundai-Kia, has placed an order for 185 Kuka robots to automate production at its plants in Hwaseong and Gwangju.
From next year, 105 KR Quantec robots at Hwaseong and 80 KR Quantec and KR Iontec series robots will be used to perform spot welding and handling tasks.
The order, which is reportedly in the single-digit million Euro range, was booked in the second quarter of 2020, and builds on previous cooperation between Seojin Industrial and Kuka in 2017.
Peter Mohnen, CEO of Kuka, said: “We are very pleased that this order enables us to further establish ourselves in the important Korean market and to demonstrate the potential of our portfolio.”
