Autonomous mobile robot (AMR) manufacturer Seegrid has announced new details about the technology that powers the Seegrid Palion AMRs.
The Pittsburgh-based company said its lift truck is equipped with the most advanced generation of its Seegrid IQ autonomy technology. It also claimed that Palion is the only robotic lift on the market with industry-leading 3D perception.
“Seegrid and its AMRs are undergoing massive growth and eclipsing alternative material handling solutions to increase productivity and safety as logistics, e-commerce, and manufacturing facilities demand flexibility, reliability, and scalability,” said Jim Rock, CEO of Seegrid.
“Palion Lift AMRs provide next-level, 360° safety to flawlessly execute vertical movements and reliably self-navigate in busy, ever-changing industrial environments.”
Its combined AMRs, enterprise software, and services for a connected materials handling system is available through a robotics-a-service (RaaS) model.
Seegrid IQ combines data from cameras, lidar, and machine learning models with its proprietary 3D computer vision system. Its solution is designed to provide safe and reliable material handling.
“Seegrid IQ, the company’s proprietary autonomy technology, brings together our breakthrough 3D vision-based navigation technology pioneered by Dr. Hans Moravec with our best-in-class 3D situational awareness capabilities,” said Todd Graves, chief technology officer of Seegrid.
“Seegrid AMRs have the intelligence to perceive, plan, and control their movement, enabling them to reliably and safely perform in highly dynamic, complex, and fast-moving industrial settings.”
Earlier this year the company introduced its latest lift truck products and announced the creation of its Blue Labs dedicated R&D group. The in-house group will focus on advanced technologies for the company’s future products. This follows the 2020 acquisition of mobile robotics start-up Box Robotics.
“Our logistics, e-commerce, and manufacturing customers need proven, scalable automation solutions to retain their competitive advantage in an era of relentless consumer demand,” added Rock.
