LAC Conveyors and Automation has been awarded exclusive rights to sell Prime Robotics’ range of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in the UK.
The AMRs are currently used in warehouses across the USA and can transport shelves, pallets and feature the new self-driven inventory shelf.
According to LAC, the demand for automation has increased in 2020 following the coronavirus pandemic, which caused manual labour shortage as well as a change in consumer buying habits. The company said this has created an overwhelming demand within the logistics industry as businesses look toward automation and robotics solutions.
Eric Rongley, CEO of Prime Robotics, said: “Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic have put strains on supply chains in the UK and together Prime and LAC provide complimentary products that form a compelling solution for warehouse operators and manufacturers.”
Plans are currently being made to open a demonstration centre in the UK featuring a fully functioning automated warehouse solution. The centre will distribute real products and feature pick stations, multiple rack combinations, Prime Robotics’ AMR range and LAC’s conveyor systems and automation solutions.
