GreyOrange has announced an expansion of its GreyMatter operating system and Ranger MoveSmart robots at Dutch e-fulfilment company Active Ants’ warehouse in Willebroek, Belgium.
Originally deployed at Active Ants’ e-fulfilment centre in the Netherlands, GreyOrange has now scaled its AI-driven software and smart robotics offering for automated fulfilment operations to the Belgian market ahead of anticipated surges in e-commerce demand over the end-of-year holiday period.
GreyMatter and Ranger MoveSmart are designed to support various aspects of fulfilment operations, from carton erection and initial product packaging to destination sorting, accelerating delivery times for end customers while reducing costs. As a software solution, the robots can adapt and scale to the future needs of Active Ants.
“We’ve seen huge success in our Dutch warehouse, and we want to expand and replicate that success in the Belgian market and beyond,” said Jean Lahaye, founder of Active Ants, which packs and distributes goods for more than five million annual orders for over 250 e-retailers across Europe.
“The GreyMatter operating system and family of Ranger robots means we are not restricted to the current landscape but can scale and modify the solutions according to our customers’ needs and prepare for the future of retail.”
The expansion also marks the start of GreyOrange’s programme to improve efficiencies across several warehouses in Europe. Jan Heijblom, sales manager at GreyOrange, said: “End customers are demanding more from their e-commerce engagements with our research revealing that almost half of consumers expect their online orders to be delivered within two days.
“Web shops and retail organisations can’t afford to fall behind when it comes to delivery times because if orders are late, customers will take their business elsewhere.”
