AMR technology provider Geek+ has announced that its picking and put-away solution is now fully operational at German third-party logistics provider Bergler Industrieservices’s logistics hub in Erlensee.
Bergler’s logistics services include order fulfilment and returns management for both German and international e-commerce outfits. To modernise its picking and put-away processes, Bergler opted for Geek+’s P-800 picking AMRs and warehouse management system.
By automating the picking process, Bergler can instead utilise its production sector experience to offer value-added services such as component assembly, quality control and packaging, in addition to handling typical fulfilment tasks.
The automated order picking system will assist some 40 Bergler employees who have, until now, assembled, packed and shipped all e-commerce orders every day since the 11,000m2 Erlensee site opened in 2019.
Now, with warehouse employees able to move to the front and centre of both inbound and outbound operations, the P-800s are used to bring racks to operators at workstations before returning them to an optimised position, helping save on hours that would otherwise be spent walking through the site.
What’s more, in addition to provider faster and more accurate picking, the AMRs’ low profile and space requirements mean that Bergler has been able to increase its storage density and scale up its operations.
Raimund Bergler, CEO of Bergler, said: “The Geek+ robotic solution is something we have been looking forward to for some time now, and we’re thrilled with the results.
“The picking robots allow us to embark on a new phase in our development and ensure that we continue to guarantee our customers an extremely high level of service.”
