Aspina, a US manufacturer of motors and modules for industrial equipment, home appliances, housing, automobiles, medical care and welfare, has announced the development of a new autonomous mobile robot (AMR) for manufacturing plants.
The AMR is equipped with automatic mapping, autonomous driving and quick-turning body and leg movements to navigate factory floors.
The robot’s simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM) function is designed to help it self-learn the layout of a space by simply moving around the environment.
Furthermore, the AMR does not need to be programmed or mapped with new paths, which Aspina claims is useful for manufacturing lines with complex and non-static stations.
The device is also designed to synchronise easily with other technology in warehouses, such as automatic doors.
Aspina will be promoting their AMR product on trial basis, starting in July 2022. As a build-to-order product, Aspina will meet with potential clients to understand their needs before beginning manufacture.
