Daegu Marriott Hotel and Residences in South Korea is to deploy a mobile customer service robot co-developed by Hyundai Robotics and KT (formerly Korea Telecom).
The AI-powered robot, called UNI-050H, can deliver amenities including towels and bottled drinks to guest-rooms on request. It also features KT’s GiGa Genie voice command function to enable easy ordering.
According to Hyundai, the robot should improve service quality and efficiency of hotel operations by reducing employee working hours.
UNI-050H uses advanced ICT technologies with spatial mapping and autonomous driving features, enabling it to overcome height differences between elevators and floors. It also comes with storage.
Hyundai Robotics plans to expand its range of mobile service robots this year with the launch of a model that carries heavy luggage, as well as a guide and surveillance robot for use in unmanned shops.
Additionally, the company has developed a robot for quarantining in public places in a ‘non-contact’ manner as well as a robot that replaces specialised cleaning equipment.
